Vjosa Osmani will tomorrow complete her five-year term as President of Kosovo. There are no indications of an agreement between political parties on the election of a new president, so it appears that the role will be taken over from Osmani by Albulena Haxhiu, the Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly, as acting President of Kosovo. Thus, the Self-Determination Movement will hold the three most important positions: the prime ministership, the presidency, and the speaker of parliament. Haxhiu will perform almost all the duties normally carried out by the president, and if, according to the Constitutional Court’s decision, a new president is not elected in the Assembly within a little over three weeks, she will be the one to set the date for early elections.
