The Israeli government’s press office stated that the patriarch's entry was blocked 'for his safety' amid Iranian missile threats, citing "strikes in the Old City of Jerusalem and missile fragments falling near the Church of the Holy Sepulchre." Good Friday, marking the culmination of Holy Week, is a solemn Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion, death, and burial of Christ."
