ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Catholic devotees fill the pews and aisles of St. Clement’s Church in La Paz, Iloilo City on Black Saturday for the Easter Vigil. At 8 p.m., Redemptorist priest Neil Bryan Lesaca celebrated the Easter Vigil Mass. The vigil is the most important liturgy of the year, bringing the penitential season of Lent to a close as thousands gather to celebrate the eve of Easter Sunday. After the Mass, ministers sprinkle holy water on hundreds of cars and motorcycles gathered outside the church for the traditional blessing of vehicles.
