Ghani pays tributes to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto

KARACHI: Saeed Ghani, Sindh Minister for Labour and a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party, Saturday hailed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as the architect of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, its 1973 Constitution and a democratic political vision that continues to shape the country. Speaking at separate events held across District East of the city to mark Bhutto’s 47th death anniversary, Ghani said the former premier’s achievements within his lifetime were unparalleled. “He accomplished in his 51-year life what is difficult to even imagine today,” Ghani said, adding that Pakistan’s current strategic strength and democratic foundations were rooted in Bhutto’s policies. He credited Bhutto with initiating the country’s nuclear programme, steering the adoption of the Constitution of Pakistan (1973), and enhancing Pakistan’s standing in the Muslim world.
