Death toll in rain-related incidents in KP surges to 45

PESHAWAR, April 05-Death toll in rain-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since March 25 has surged to 45 persons while 105 reportedly injured, said report of the losses shared by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) here on Sunday. The dead persons included 23 children, 17 men and 5 women while those injured include 45 men, 16 women and 44 children respectively According to the report, collectively 442houses were damaged while 382 damaged partially and 60 destroyed completely PDMA has reported these losses from various districts including Bannu, Abbottabad, Mardan, Bajaur, Hangu, Mohmand, Kohat, North Waziristan, Peshawar, Khyber, Nowshera, DI Khan, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Shangla, Battagram, Lower Kohistan, Mansehra, Torghar, Swat, Upper Dir, Charsadda, Buner, Malakand, Lower Dir, Orakzai, South Waziristan and Tank respectively. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority is working in coordination with Rescue 1122, district administration and other concerned agencies and relief and rescue operations are in full swing in the rain affected areas. PDMA has also dispatched relief goods to affected districts and has directed district administration to accelerate relief operation and provision of immediate financial assistance to the affectees. An advisory of the PDMA has said that the new spell of rains will continue in different districts from April 6 to till April 9, 2026. The general public has been advised to avoid unnecessary travelling and avoid visits to sensitive tourists’ spots, follow the alerts of the official agencies and advisory.
