Sandiganbayan hears Revilla bail argument

THE Sandiganbayan on Monday started hearing the bail petitions of former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. and his co-respondents in a malversation case involving a non-existent flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan. Revilla surrendered to the police on Jan. 19, and has since been detained at the Quezon City Jail. Seeking bail along with Remulla were Juanito Mendoza, Brice Hernandez, Arjay Domasig, Emelita Juat, and Christina Mae Pineda. The prosecution started off by presenting as witness Ivan Samson, an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation. Samson was cross-examined by defense lawyers, among them Revilla’s counsel, Isaiah Asuncion III. The case was filed by the Office of the Ombudsman. Revilla refused to enter a plea during his arraignment in February. The Sandiganbayan’s Third Division entered a not guilty plea for him. The other respondents pleaded not guilty to the charge.
