"Donald Trump revealed that the mission to rescue a second US airman in Iran at the weekend involved 155 different aircraft, as he spoke with the media from the White House on Monday. "The second rescue mission involved 155 aircraft, including four bombers, 64 fighters, 48 refuelling tankers, 13 rescue aircraft, and more," he said. He also said there was a 'lot of subterfuge'. "We wanted to have them think he was in a different location because they had a vast military force out there, thousands and thousands of people were looking, so we wanted them to look in different areas," he admitted. The F-15 fighter jet was downed over Iran on Friday, with the US launching a frantic search after both crew ejected. The pilot was reported to have been rescued the same day, with the helicopter carrying him also reportedly hit by Iranian air defences - although the US claimed it had landed safely. Iranian state media had broadcast a 'reward' for the capture of the two crew. The second crewmember was rescued by the US side on Sunday, with Trump posting:"We have rescued the seriously wounded, and really brave, F-15 Crew Member/Officer, from deep inside the mountains of Iran… An AMAZING show of bravery and talent by all!"
