"Israeli police spokesperson Binyamin Blecher Avraham said four members of the same family were found dead under the rubble in Haifa on Monday, after a reported Iranian missile struck the city the previous evening. Footage shows aftermath of the strike, with emergency crews still at the scene as excavators clear the rubble at the partially collapsed building. "As you can see behind me, they arrived and began the primary action of saving lives, which is the supreme goal of all the forces that arrived. They located several injured people here and quickly evacuated them to the hospital," Avraham said. "They realised there were several people who had lost contact, four in number. They began search and rescue operations, and today at noon, to my sorrow and the sorrow of the family, they were found lifeless. This is the place to send condolences to the family," he added. The residential building was hit late on Sunday at around 21:00 local time (18:00 GMT), according to Israeli authorities. Rescue teams worked overnight, searching for four missing people before recovering their bodies hours later. Tensions have escalated across the Middle East since the United States and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on February 28, amid diplomatic talks aimed at curbing 'Iran's nuclear and missile programmes'. Tehran responded with retaliatory strikes on Israeli and US assets in the region, with reports of explosions in several Gulf countries. Iran later confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with his son Mojtaba Khamenei named as his successor."
