"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said US President Donald Trump had thanked Israel for its assistance in rescuing a missing American fighter jet crew member in Iran, in what he called a 'heroic' rescue mission. "He spoke of us in superlatives. He said, 'You guys are great, you are great,'" said Netanyahu, quoting Trump. "He sees Israel as a steadfast, determined, and assertive ally that fights shoulder to shoulder alongside the United States." Israel also carried out multiple strikes on Iran that killed Iran's IRGC intelligence chief, Majid Khademi, and Quds Force special operations commander Asghar Bagheri. Tel Aviv also claimed to have struck a key petrochemical plant at Iran's South Pars natural gas field. "We are destroying factories. We are eliminating operatives, and therefore, we continue to eliminate senior figures," the Israeli prime minister noted. The rescued US Air Force officer had gone missing after Iran downed an F-15E flying over its mountainous southwest region on Friday, triggering a race between the US and Iran to locate the missing crew. President Trump on Sunday announced that the pilot, a colonel, had been retrieved. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also claimed on Sunday that its forces had destroyed two C-130 aircraft and two Black Hawk helicopters during the operation to rescue the US airman."
