Strike in Ain Saadeh - Three killed, several injured in Israeli attack on apartment block east of Beirut

"First responders and civil defence teams rushed to the scene after an Israeli airstrike hit a residential apartment in Ain Saadeh, east of Beirut, on Sunday evening, killing three people and injuring several others.  Footage shows emergency crews working at the site as residents gathered outside the damaged building. According to local media reports, the strike hit a third-floor apartment in Block C of the Maronite Complex in the Ain Saadeh hills. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health confirmed that three people were killed, including two women, and three others were injured. One of the deceased was identified as Pierre Mouawad, a local official for the Lebanese Forces (LF) party from Yahchouch. Later on Sunday, the Israeli military said it had carried out additional strikes on Hezbollah command centres that it said were being used to plan attacks on Israeli soldiers and civilians. Tensions escalated in the Middle East after the United States and Israel launched a joint military operation on Iran on February 28, when diplomatic talks were taking place aimed at ‘undermining Iran's nuclear and missile programs". Tehran then announced retaliatory strikes on Israel and the US assets in the region. Explosions were reported in different Gulf countries. Later, Iran confirmed the killing of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and his son, Mujtaba Khamenei, was selected as his successor. The conflict spilt over into Lebanon as Hezbollah intervened 'in revenge' for the assassination of the Iranian Supreme Leader. The shipment routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, were disrupted following the closure of the Strait."
