PM orders completion of all railway projects

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the Minister for Railways to ensure the timely completion of ongoing railway projects and utilise all available resources to provide the public with better, safer, and affordable travel facilities. In a meeting with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi at PM House in Islamabad on Monday, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that in the prevailing economic conditions, the government was avoiding placing any additional burden on the masses and was also focusing on improving the railway system to increase its revenue. The PM and the railways minister, during the meeting, also analyzed the overall performance of Pakistan Railways, ongoing reforms, and future projects. Briefing PM Shehbaz Sharif on the operational matters of Pakistan Railways, Hanif Abbasi said keeping in view the public convenience amid the current Gulf situation, the fares for no train were increased across the country. Shehbaz directed to accelerate the reform measures to transform Pakistan Railways into a modern, safe, and reliable transportation system. He reiterated the government’s commitment to the agenda of public welfare and said that by improving the performance of all institutions, the country would be put on the path of development and progress.
