ILOILO CITY— The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Western Visayas announced on Monday that it will provide fuel subsidies to affected fisherfolk as tensions in the Middle East continue to drive up local fuel costs. BFAR-6 regional director Remia Aparri said an initial 1,698 registered fisherfolk in the region will receive P3,000 worth of subsidies this April. The P3,000 assistance is estimated to cover five to seven days’ worth of fishing trips, based on the previous average fuel price of P100 per liter.
