Exit polls are banned from April 9 to April 29 during assembly elections in Kerala, Assam, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. This prohibition is mandated by the Election Commission under the Representation of the People Act. Violators face imprisonment or fines. Campaigning also ends 48 hours before voting begins in these states.
