‘Danger’ heat index seen in 2 areas Wednesday – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Two areas are forecast to reach “danger” level heat indices on Wednesday, April 8, said the state weather bureau. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) defines heat index as the “measure of the contribution that high humidity makes with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body’s ability to cool itself.” Indices ranging from 42ºC to 51ºC are tagged “danger,” due to increased risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which could then lead to heat stroke.
