Tickled pink! Spring paints Korea’s Bucheon in fuchsia hues as Azalea Festival dazzles visitors

"Spring has sprung at the Republic of Korea's Wonmisan Azalea Hill, where the annual Bucheon Azalea Festival transformed the landscape into an ocean of pink blossom. Located just outside Seoul, the festival has attracted large crowds eager to stroll through the blooming azaleas, snapping photos and celebrating the season's peak. Footage captured on Tuesday shows visitors wandering along winding paths carpeted with bright pink petals, with the hillside offering stunning panoramic views of Bucheon below. Families, couples, and photography enthusiasts have flocked to the site, many equipped with selfie sticks and picnic mats to make a day of the spectacle that signals the arrival of spring. “I saw on the news that the weather had warmed up and the flowers were in bloom, so I decided to come out. Everything is very clean and well-maintained, and the atmosphere is delightful. I think this will be a wonderful memory,” explained visitor Park Seon-yong. “I thought the flowers had already fallen, but they’re actually in full bloom and very beautiful. I’m really glad I came,” said Kim Ji-eun. “There are fewer people than I expected, and the weather is nice, so it’s a great place to enjoy the flowers.” Others described the occasion as a perfect family outing. “I feel really happy. Coming to see the flowers with my granddaughter makes me truly feel that spring has arrived,” said Lee Jeong-ja. The azaleas at Wonmisan typically reach full bloom in early April, and this year's display is particularly vibrant due to favourable weather conditions in late March. Festival organisers have set up designated photo zones and walking trails to manage crowds while preserving the natural beauty of the hill. The Azalea Festival runs until mid-April, celebrating the peak bloom of over 70,000 azaleas, all while offering performances and food amidst the stunning, pink-covered hills of Wonmisan."
