4 suspects in fuel pilferage in Quezon City face raps

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday said it would file criminal charges against four suspects in an alleged diesel pilferage incident in the city. The two arrested suspects’ cohorts identified in their aliases as "Albert," 32; and "Bimbo" 19, both Barangay Commonwealth residents, are currently the subject of a manhunt operation, BGen. Glenn Randy Silvio, QCPD director, said. Silvio said theft charges would be filed against the arrested suspects – "Ezekiel," 26; and "Benjie," 26., both residents – and their two at-large companions before the City Prosecutor’s Office. Reports showed that between 12:30 a.m. and 1:10 a.m. in Barangay Greater Fairview on March 31, 2026, the suspects allegedly forcibly opened the gas tank of a parked Elf truck and siphoned off approximately 60 liters of diesel with an estimated value of P7, 000. They then fled to an unknown direction onboard a red Mitsubishi Mirage sedan with an unknown plate number, police said. Acting on the information, QCPD personnel conducted follow-up operations, including backtracking and forward tracking of available CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage. Subsequently, police said Ezekiel and Benjie surrendered to Fairview Police Station and admitted their participation in the incident. Investigation also disclosed that the stolen diesel was sold to public utility jeepney drivers in Litex area, also in the city, for P3,500. “Two of the suspects - Benjie and Albert – turned out to have separate pending robbery cases in the provinces of Tarlac and Cavite, respectively,” according to the QCPD chief. He also encouraged anyone with information on the remaining suspects to immediately coordinate with the nearest police station or call E911/QC Helpline 122.
