KARACHI: The Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi on Monday hosted the Japanese Calendar Exhibition 2026 at the State Bank Museum and Art Gallery. The exhibition is open to the public from April 7 to 8, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., free of charge. The exhibition showcases eighty Japanese calendars provided by the Japan Calendar Publishers Cooperative Union (JCAL), spanning themes from nature and landscapes to modern design and cultural heritage. More than date markers, these calendars embody Japan’s admiration for time, seasons, and harmony with nature. Visitors can discover how calendars serve as visual storytelling, blending practicality with artistry, and how Japanese design achieves a balance of simplicity, detail, and function. The exhibition also displays Hina Dolls (Hina-ningyo) to commemorate Hinamatsuri, or Girls’ Day, a Japanese festival held annually in March to pray for the happiness, health, and prosperity of young girls. By hosting the Japanese Calendar Exhibition 2026, in collaboration with the State Bank Museum and Art Gallery, the Consulate-General of Japan aims to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and Pakistan by providing the public with an accessible and engaging cultural experience.
