SU body reviews fuel costs, proposes ‘hybrid’ classes

HYDERABAD: A meeting of the Transport Committee of the University of Sindh was held on Monday under the chair of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri to deliberate on measures to reduce the financial burden caused by the recent increase in petroleum prices. The meeting reviewed various options aimed at minimizing expenditure on diesel used by point buses that transport students to and from the campus. Participants discussed ways to rationalize transport operations while ensuring that students’ academic activities were not adversely affected. During the deliberations, it was proposed that physical classes may be conducted three days a week, totalling around 12 days in a month, while the fourth day of the week could be utilized for online classes. The proposal was presented as a possible measure to reduce fuel consumption and manage university resources more efficiently. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
