CEBU CITY, Philippines— A stricter verification process will take effect this April as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) moves to require the use of the National ID for indigent senior citizens claiming their social pension. According to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), DSWD’s directive makes the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) central to beneficiary verification.
