"Chilean President Jose Antonio Kast on Tuesday opened the International Air and Space Fair (FIDAE), a major defence and aerospace exhibition in Santiago. Footage shows pilots performing aerobatic displays, along with drones, aircraft and helicopters on show at the event. Rescue drills simulating conflict scenarios were also staged. In his opening remarks, Kast said FIDAE showed Chile's ability to organise, innovate and project itself seriously in a strategic sector for the future. "During this week, Santiago transforms into a meeting centre for companies, institutions, experts, and international delegations where these connections, opportunities, and concrete agreements are generated in favour of the progress of Chile and also the development of other countries," he said. The 24th edition of FIDAE brought together around 440 exhibitors from Latin America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The fair also marks the return of Israeli companies after a veto imposed during the government of former president Gabriel Boric was lifted. FIDAE runs until April 12, giving visitors and industry professionals a chance to explore the latest aerospace innovations and watch aerial displays."
