Tragedy in Sidon - At least eight reported killed in southern Lebanon strike as two-week ceasefire declared *DISTRESSING*

"At least eight people were reported killed, and 22 others were injured in an Israeli strike in Sidon, southern Lebanon, as a two-week ceasefire was declared between the US and Iran. Footage filmed on Wednesday morning shows thick smoke rising from a fire following the strike, with firefighters working to extinguish burning vehicles. Paramedics were seen loading wounded people onto stretchers, while emergency teams and locals rushed to assist at the scene. "At the time of the targeting, the operations room was notified of a strike on the coastal road in Sidon. Two of our teams headed out, and when they arrived, they requested backup. We dispatched two more teams. We transported six casualties, including martyrs and wounded, to various hospitals in the city of Sidon," said a Public Relations Officer of Islamic Medical Association in Sidon. The strike comes after Iran said it had accepted a two-week ceasefire and that talks would begin on Friday in Islamabad, after US President Donald Trump said he would suspend attacks if Tehran fully reopened the Strait of Hormuz. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supported Trump's two-week pause in attacks on Iran, but stressed that no ceasefire is extended to Lebanon. Israel launched a ground, sea and air campaign in southern Lebanon after Hezbollah entered the conflict with Iran in retaliation for the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.  The United Nations says more than one million people, around 20 percent of Lebanon's population, have been displaced since fighting reignited on March 2.  Lebanese casualties have surpassed 1,400, including both civilians and militants, as the conflict intensifies across multiple fronts."
