MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education on Wednesday cited existing tax incentives that seek to help schools and learners’ families manage rising expenses, including fuel, transport, and operational costs linked to tensions in the Middle East. The tax breaks pertain to income tax exemption for non-profit schools, a 10 percent income tax rate for privately-owned schools, and exemption from 12 percent Value-added Tax (VAT) on tuition and educational services, subject to existing conditions.
