P50/kg price cap for imported rice targeted by end-April

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Agriculture (DA) hopes that President Marcos will issue an executive order imposing a price cap of P50 per kilogram on imported rice by the end of April. “Hopefully, [it will be implemented] before the end of the month,” Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said on the sidelines of the 2026 Department of Trade and Industry–Bagong Pilipinas National Food Fair in Mandaluyong City.
