TACLOBAN CITY — The municipal government of Sulat, Eastern Samar has prohibited the slaughter of carabaos for fear of losing the traditional farm machinery alternative amid rising fuel costs. In an interview on Tuesday, Sulat Mayor Javier Zacate said he issued an executive order (EO) prohibiting the butchering of carabaos. The order covers instances during fiestas and other celebrations to ensure agricultural sustainability.
