"Widespread destruction was seen in the Ain al-Mreisseh district of Beirut on Wednesday following a wave of Israeli airstrikes that Lebanese authorities say left hundreds dead and injured. Footage shows large sections of buildings reduced to rubble, with emergency teams deployed across the area searching for survivors among the debris. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had carried out “the largest coordinated strike targeting more than 100 Hezbollah command centers and military sites” since the start of Operation 'Roaring Lion'. It added that a 'wide-scale wave of strikes' had hit Beirut, the Beqaa Valley and southern Lebanon. Lebanese media reported that multiple areas locations targeted, including areas in and around Sidon, Aramoun, Adloun and several districts of Beirut such as Corniche al-Mazraa and Ain al-Mreisseh. Lebanon’s health minister said the strikes “resulted in hundreds of martyrs and wounded across various parts of the country.” The strikes came hours after US President Donald Trump said he had agreed to suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks, on condition that Tehran fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. “We received a ten-point proposal from Iran, and we believe it is a workable basis for negotiations,” Trump wrote. “Most of the previous points of contention between the United States and Iran have been agreed upon, but the two-week period will allow for finalizing and completing the deal.” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran’s armed forces would halt defensive operations if attacks against the country stopped, adding that Tehran would allow safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks “in coordination with the Iranian armed forces.” Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Iranian and US delegations are expected to meet in Islamabad on April 10 to continue negotiations towards a final agreement. Tensions have surged since the United States and Israel launched joint military operations against Iran on February 28, during diplomatic efforts aimed at limiting Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes."
