‘We're not stopping in Lebanon’ - IDF spox claims Hezbollah targets 'deliberately placed in heart of civilian populations', praises Iran ops

"The Israeli military on Wednesday claimed that it had significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities during the six-week-long war, adding that the IDF would continue military operations in Lebanon. "The IDF, I must emphasise, has met all the goals and targets set for it and even in an unprecedented manner across Iran," military spokesperson Effie Defrin said during a media briefing. He added that Israeli forces had targeted key components of Iran’s military infrastructure, including its missile systems and nuclear programme. “There are negotiations, and we are acting according to the diplomatic directives. If it becomes necessary to return to fighting, we will return to fighting,” he said. Despite the ceasefire, Defrin stressed that operations in Lebanon would continue, saying the military had carried out the “most significant firepower operation against Hezbollah since the beginning of the operation.” "In Lebanon, we are not stopping and have not stopped for a moment. We continue to operate and fight with full force against Hezbollah,” he said. This comes after strikes on Lebanon on Wednesday which have been described as the most intense since the 1982 invasion. “The targets we attacked were deliberately placed in the heart of civilian populations,” he claimed. The strikes caused widespread damage to residential areas, as well as water and electricity networks and road infrastructure. Over 180 people have been reported killed and many more injured across the country in the wave of strikes. It comes as US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he has agreed to suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks, on condition that Tehran immediately and fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, just hours before his own deadline for a deal. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Iranian and US delegations are now expected to meet in Islamabad on Friday, April 10, "to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes." A joint US-Israeli operation against Iranian targets started on February 28. Tehran responded with missile and drone strikes on Israel and US military positions in the region, while explosions were reported across Gulf countries. Tehran responded with retaliatory strikes on Israel and US assets in the region, with reports of explosions in several Gulf countries. Iran later confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with his son Mojtaba Khamenei named as his successor."
