Israel had no influence on ceasefire deal! - Opposition leader Lapid slams Netanyahu over 'total failure' in Iran war

"Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid on Tuesday sharply criticised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Iran war and claimed Tel Aviv had no influence on the ceasefire deal between the US and Iran. "Israel had no influence whatsoever on the agreement signed last night between the United States and Iran, mediated by Pakistan. They will try to sell you the idea that he had influence behind the scenes—that we were consulted, that there were late-night talks and secret meetings. Know that these are empty lies. Netanyahu has turned us into a client state that receives instructions by phone on matters that touch the core of our national security, and at a critical moment for our security, they pushed him away from the table," Lapid said during a press conference in Tel Aviv. "We inflicted heavy damage on Iran. Precisely because of this, the total failure stands out even more. What happened here is a diplomatic disaster on a scale I do not recall. I was prime minister, I was foreign minister. I do not remember such a diplomatic collapse," he added. This comes hours after US President Donald Trump said he had approved a two-week suspension of attacks on Iran, on condition that Tehran fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran’s armed forces would halt defensive operations if attacks against the country ceased. Tensions escalated after the United States and Israel launched joint military operations against Iran on February 28, during talks aimed at “limiting Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.” Tehran responded with strikes targeting Israeli and US assets across the region. Iran later confirmed the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was succeeded by his son Mojtaba Khamenei."
