"Rescue teams in Sinaloa pulled a second miner alive from the collapsed Santa Fe mine, more than two weeks after the incident. Personnel from the Mexican Navy and the National Civil Protection Coordination rescued Francisco Zapata Najera, 42, on Wednesday after locating him around 300 metres below ground. He was stabilised at the site before being airlifted to the General Hospital of Mazatlan for specialised treatment. Authorities said the operation lasted more than 14 days and was complicated by water build-up and structural instability inside the mine, requiring divers and high-capacity pumps to remove thousands of litres of water per hour. In a statement, Civil Protection chief Laura Velazquez Alzua said she remains in contact with the families of those affected, providing updates on the ongoing efforts. Four workers were initially trapped when the mine collapsed on March 25. One miner was rescued alive in the days following the accident, while another has since been confirmed dead. Search operations are continuing for the remaining missing worker."
