Balisacan to PCC, ERC: Probe cartel-like behavior in oil industry

MANILA, Philippines — Both the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC)  and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) should coordinate their efforts into looking at cartel-like behavior in the oil industry, Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan told Congress. During the hearing of the House of Representatives’ Legislative Energy Action Development (LEAD) committee, Balisacan said that both PCC and ERC have the power to check whether oil companies are engaging in “anti-competitive practices” which lead to connivance and the maintenance of high fuel prices despite the Middle East crisis.
