Osmeña: Many Filipino heroes remain forgotten on Day of Valor

CEBU CITY, Philippines —  Cebu City Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña on Thursday, April 9, called on Filipinos to remember not only the well-known heroes of World War II but also the many soldiers whose sacrifices have gone largely unnoticed. Speaking during the city’s observance of Araw ng Kagitingan at the Cebu Veterans Memorial in Plaza Independencia, Osmeña reflected on his experiences attending the burials of soldiers killed in the line of duty. “I began to realize how people have sacrificed to help this country and they’re long forgotten,” he said.
