APTMA hails govt’s role in facilitating ceasefire between US, Iran

LAHORE: APTMA expressed its deep appreciation to the Government of Pakistan in general and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in particular under whose leadership, commitment and sustained diplomatic engagement Pakistan was instrumental in facilitating the ceasefire between Iran and the United States. These views were expressed by Kamran Arshad, Chairman APTMA while addressing a press conference alongwith Asad Shafi Chairman North, Mohammad Qasim Treasurer North, Faisal Jawed, Muhammad Ali Senior Executives and Mohammad Raza Baqir Secretary General APTMA. Chairman APTMA said t “what Pakistan has achieved is something no one could have ever imagined as Pakistan has saved the world from a catastrophic third world war. Thus Pakistan has rendered a great service to humanity spread all over the globe.” Kamran added that at a critical moment of heightened global tension, Pakistan played a key role in advancing the truce, promoting restraint, and creating much-needed space for dialogue and de-escalation. The ceasefire arrangement followed intensive diplomatic outreach by Pakistan’s leadership and has opened the way for further talks in Islamabad. Kamran continued that Pakistan’s role reflects its longstanding commitment to regional peace, stability, and dialogue. The facilitation of this ceasefire is a welcome development not only for the people directly affected by the conflict, but also for the broader international community, which has been deeply concerned by the risks of wider escalation and disruption to global trade and energy markets. Kamran expressed the hope that after grand successes on diplomatic fronts, Pakistan’s leadership will now wage a war for bringing out Pakistan from economic woes to uplift the standards of average Pakistanis. Asad Shafi Chairman Noth said that in the turbulent arena of global politics, Pakistan has changed the course of history. The war imposed on Iran by the United States and Israel, along with Iran’s attacks particularly on the Gulf Arab states, had created an extraordinarily difficult situation. On one side were the threats from the United States and Israel, along with fears that nuclear weapons might even be used against Iran. On the other side, Iran’s retaliatory attacks had escalated tensions between Iran and the Gulf countries to such an extent that there was a real fear Muslim nations might end up fighting one another. Asad stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan demonstrated a level of vision, patience, and quiet diplomacy that is truly remarkable. While direct communication between Washington and Tehran had nearly broken down, Pakistan worked behind the scenes to build an atmosphere of trust that ultimately helped disperse the clouds of war. Asad hoped that after his diplomatic achievement government of Pakistan would give a new hope to trade and industry and facilitate business community to bring a turnaround in the economy of Pakistan.
