MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has promulgated a resolution prescribing the calendar of activities and prohibited acts for the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections scheduled for Sept. 14, 2026. The resolution, approved on April 7, 2026, sets key dates including the filing of certificates of candidacy for district representatives from May 5 to May 7, 2026. The campaign period is scheduled from July 30 to Sept. 12, 2026. The election period will run from July 16 to Sept. 29, 2026, during which several prohibited acts will be enforced. These are a gun ban prohibiting the bearing or carrying of firearms unless authorized in writing by the Comelec and a ban on the use of security personnel or bodyguards by candidates without prior Commission approval. Other restrictions during the election period include the prohibition on transferring or detailing civil service officers and employees without Comelec approval, and the suspension of elective provincial, city, municipal or barangay officers without prior authorization from the Commission. During the campaign period, the resolution bans the release, disbursement or expenditure of public funds except those specifically exempted, as well as the construction of public works. The giving of donations by candidates or their relatives within the second civil degree of consanguinity or affinity is also prohibited. On the eve of election day and on election day itself, a liquor ban will be enforced, prohibiting the selling, serving, or taking of intoxicating liquor. Campaigning is absolutely prohibited on both days. The Commission also announced that the last day for filing Sworn Statements of Election Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) is Oct. 14, 2026.
