Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit has been cleared for promotion to Brigadier. This follows a stay on his retirement by the Armed Forces Tribunal. Purohit had sought promotion after his acquittal in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. The Mumbai NIA court acquitted him and six others. The blast occurred in 2008. Investigations and trials spanned many years.
