Seasonal span - World's longest bamboo bridge reconnects Cambodia's Koh Pen for dry season

"A seasonal bamboo bridge provides a vital link to the mainland for about 1,000 residents of Koh Pen Island in Cambodia's Kampong Cham province. Stretching one kilometre across the Mekong River, the Bamboo Bridge is billed as the world's longest of its kind. Rebuilt each dry season with up to 50,000 bamboo poles, the temporary crossing serves both as a daily route for locals and a popular tourist attraction. Footage captured on Thursday shows locals and visitors navigating the bridge. "I feel excited and happy. This bridge, despite being made from bamboo, is strong. I heard that in the past, cars could drive on it too," said a tourist. Crossing the bridge offers visitors a scenic route through the Cambodian countryside, with wide views of the river and Koh Pen Island beyond. "I am calling on local and international tourists to visit this place at least once in a lifetime because it is a beautiful place and well known," he continued. The bridge typically opens for visitors from January to May. It is dismantled before the rainy season, when rising Mekong waters could sweep it away, with the wet season typically running from May to November."
