THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has partnered with a law firm to provide better legal assistance for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). The DMW said it signed a memorandum of agreement with Siguion-Reyna, Montecillo & Ongsiako on Friday at the DMW Central Office in Mandaluyong City. In a statement, the agency said OFWs will “gain access to timely and appropriate legal assistance, particularly during crises and disputes affecting their rights and welfare.” “This partnership strengthens our capacity to ensure that the rights and welfare of OFWs are fully protected under the law,” DMW Assistant Secretary Jerome Alcantara said. The DMW said the collaboration with the law firm is a “significant step in strengthening institutional support systems for Filipino workers overseas and broadening access to legal services.” Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding OFWs through accessible legal guidance and support, particularly those in challenging situations.
