Authorities seize P101.5M shabu, nab 6 drug suspects

(UPDATE) TWO separate anti-narcotics operations on Thursday resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs estimated at P101.5 million and the arrest of six individuals in Parañaque City and Leyte province, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Friday. The PNP, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), arrested alias “Bossing,” a 35-year-old female suspect, and five other high-value Filipino accomplices. Authorities seized more than 13 kilograms of suspected shabu, valued at a standard drug price of P91,045,200.00, along with firearms, ammunition, cash, and other non-drug items. In a separate operation in Barangay San Jose, Dulag, Leyte, authorities conducted a buy-bust operation at around 11:35 p.m., resulting in the arrest of a 45-year-old drug suspect ranked third on the regional priority target list. Confiscated were approximately 1,547 grams of suspected shabu estimated at P10,519,600.00, along with buy-bust money, boodle money, and other personal items. All pieces of evidence were properly marked and inventoried at the place of arrest in the presence of required witnesses, in accordance with established procedures. Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the arrested suspects. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., PNP chief, commended the units for the successful operations, highlighting the importance of strong coordination and sustained efforts in the anti-drug campaign. “The PNP will not stop going after those involved in illegal drugs. We will continue to act decisively, within the bounds of the law, to protect our communities,” Nartatez said. He also emphasized that continuous collaboration among law enforcement agencies remains a key to addressing the illegal drug problem.
