Damage in Kiryat Shmona - Rescue teams rush in as home hit by shrapnel in fresh attack on Israel's border towns

"Emergency crews were deployed across Kiryat Shmona on Friday following a wave of drone and rocket strikes reportedly launched from Lebanon. Footage shows rescue teams at a residential building that was damaged by falling shrapnel and debris. Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed multiple impact sites in Kiryat Shmona. No casualties have been reported at the time of publication. According to local media, strikes on Friday triggered widespread power outages across Kiryat Shmona and nearby Metula. Early reports suggest the disruption was caused by damage to high-voltage infrastructure. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a barrage launched at 12:00 local time, saying it targeted the Kiryat Shmona barracks with a squadron of offensive drones. The group also said it carried out an additional strike on Avivim at 13:30 local time. This comes as high-level delegations from the United States and Iran are due to meet in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, for peace talks this weekend amid a conditional two-week ceasefire deal. Under the deal, Iran agreed in principle to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while the US and Israel paused strikes on Iranian territory. Israel and the White House have insisted the agreement does not extend to Lebanon, with Tel Aviv continuing its military operations in the region. Hezbollah resumed rocket fire and projectiles into northern Israel in retaliation. Iran and its allies maintain that the agreement should extend to the Lebanese front, warning of possible escalation. Countries including France, the United Kingdom, Qatar and Egypt have also said Lebanon should be included in any ceasefire."
