"China's Wang Yi met DPRK leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang on Friday, in the first visit by a Chinese foreign minister to the country since 2019. Footage shows Wang greeting Kim at the headquarters of the Workers' Party of Korea, where the pair held bilateral talks with their respective delegations. Wang arrived in the DPRK for a two-day trip on Thursday. He met with Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui for talks on regional security and bilateral cooperation. Analysts say Wang's trip may be aimed at aligning Beijing and Pyongyang's agendas before a potential meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, where the DPRK is likely to feature prominently. Wang's visit comes just one day after Pyongyang conducted a series of back-to-back missile tests from the Wonsan area as it pushes to expand nuclear-capable forces. Just two weeks ago, Kim Jong Un reiterated his characterisation of South Korea as a 'hostile enemy,' dashing recent hopes in Seoul of easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula."
