SRB seals restaurant for failing to get registered

KARACHI: The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has sealed the business premises of Shalimar Restaurant on Thandi Sarak, Hyderabad, after the establishment repeatedly failed to register with the tax authority and pay Sindh Sales Tax (SST) on its restaurant services. According to the details, the enforcement action, carried out by SRB officers, marks the latest move in the board’s ongoing crackdown on non-compliant taxpayers operating across the province. The restaurant had been issued a formal notice on March 31, 2026, directing it to complete registration with the board and clear outstanding SST dues on its taxable services. Despite being served multiple follow-up notices, the restaurant continued to ignore departmental directives, prompting authorities to proceed with the sealing of its premises under the provisions of the law. “Having noticed consistent non-compliance by the said restaurant, the officers of the SRB sealed their business premises in accordance with the law,” the SRB said. The board warned that similar enforcement measures will be taken against any restaurant or service provider found operating in violation of Sindh Sales Tax regulations.
