Key railway facilities in Karachi inspected: Improvement in passenger services, overall operational standards ordered

KARACHI: A senior Pakistan Railways officials conducted a detailed inspection of key railway facilities in Karachi, directing immediate improvements in passenger services, record-keeping and overall operational standards, officials said on Friday. Commercial Manager Nasir Nazir visited Karachi Division on the instructions of Chief Executive Officer Aamir Ali Baloch and Chief Commercial Manager Tariq Anwar Sapra, reviewed operations at major stations including Karachi City and Karachi Cantonment. During the visit, Nasir Nazir examined booking and parcel offices, scrutinising records and identifying discrepancies. He issued on-the-spot directives for corrections and instructed station authorities to ensure accuracy in documentation and improve service delivery. Officials were also directed to enhance passenger facilities and maintain higher standards of performance across departments. The inspection included a review of stalls, as well as facilities at CIP, family and VIP lounges, with a focus on improving comfort and service quality for travellers. A detailed visit to station platforms was also carried out to assess maintenance, cleanliness and overall arrangements. Nazir held discussions with staff of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board regarding sanitation measures, emphasising the need for effective waste management to provide a clean and pleasant environment for passengers. Divisional Commercial Officer Jahan Babar and Assistant Commercial Manager Faisal Abbas Baloch accompanied him during the visit, along with other officials and station staff.
