ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Moshin Naqvi on Friday directed law enforcement agencies (LEAs) that all necessary measures should be taken for the security of the US-Iran delegations visiting Pakistan for high-staked peace talks. Navqvi issued these directives during a meeting attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Chief Commissioner Rawalpindi, Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, as well as representatives from the Rangers, Federal Constabulary (FC), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). “Every possible measures should be taken to facilitate and ensure security of visiting delegates,” the minister said during the meeting. The meeting reviewed security arrangements made by the LEAs ahead of the arrival of foreign delegations for the US–Iran negotiations. The interior minister directed authorities to ensure top-tier arrangements for international guests, emphasizing both hospitality and security. As part of the security plan, it was decided that the Red Zone will be completely sealed, with access restricted only to authorized individuals. As part of security plan a control room has also been established at the Ministry of Interior to monitor and coordinate all related operations, a senior official said. Meanwhile, the capital city was on high alert ahead of crucial peace talks between the US and Iran in the city, with heavy deployment of all kinds LEAs personnel to ensure the safety of the visiting delegates. Official source said that strict, multi-layered security arrangements across the federal capital have been made supervised by the Pakistan Army, assisted by the paramilitary forces, such as Rangers, and the Islamabad and Punjab police. As part of the comprehensive security plan, the Red Zone — which houses the Diplomatic Enclave, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Parliament House, the Supreme Court, and other key government offices—has been completely sealed, with a heavy deployment of security personnel including all LEAs and security forces. Only authoritised or government officers have been allowed to enter red zone through Margalla road. Security personnel were deployed at all buildings in the red zone, with contingents of the Quick Response Force deployed at different localtions. Troops were also deployed in the Margalla Hills. Police contingents have been stationed on all routes leading to the Red Zone and in various parts of the city. Specialized units, including Islamabad Police commandos, female officers, mobile patrol teams, the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), and the Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS), were also deployed at multiple locations.
