LAHORE: Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yaseen has approved the establishment of a Clean Water Authority Complex as well as district complaint centres. The minister chaired a meeting on Friday to discuss several matters related to clean water initiatives. On this occasion, the Clean Water Authority CEO briefed the participants on ongoing projects and the overall framework. Projects underway in various districts and proposed monitoring frameworks at the tehsil level were also reviewed. A proposal was also presented to increase the budget for the construction of small dams in the next fiscal year. The minister granted the Clean Water Authority a deadline until June 30 to restore more than 5,000 water filtration plants. He emphasised that there will be zero tolerance for any compromise on transparency and merit, and no flexibility regarding deadlines. He further directed that the mechanism for the effective supply of bottled water be improved and made more practical. He stressed that delays in public welfare projects are unacceptable. Yaseen clarified that, on the instructions of the Punjab chief minister, a solid mechanism will be developed at the tehsil level to ensure the provision of clean water.
