Asking for a friend: I can’t keep an erection during sex and sometimes can’t get hard at all. I’m not depressed or on medication, but I do watch a lot of porn

Q: I feel so ashamed writing to you so please don’t share my full details. I’m having a difficult time having sex at the moment. I can’t keep my erection and I’ve tried lots of different things but nothing seems to work. I’m not depressed or don’t have any mental health issues, and I’m not on any medication. I work out a lot and would like to think that I am in shape and healthy. I do watch a lot of porn, as I didn’t have any good sex education. I’ve gotten in my own head comparing myself to them and how they have sex. I’m now so anxious that my penis seems to always go soft now if I’m with someone, and a couple of times I haven’t been able to get hard at all. I’m mortified telling you this but I’m at my wits’ end. I feel very low about this and it’s becoming more and more of a big deal. I don’t feel like a real man and I know that’s stupid. My friends said to just take Viagra and laugh about it, and said it never happened to them. Is there anything I can do before I go to my doctor, which I really don’t want to do?
