MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC), Energy Regulation Commission (ERC) and the Department of Energy (DOE) need to intervene in the “cartel-like behavior” of oil companies amid the rising cost of fuel, Marikina Rep. Miro Quimbo said on Saturday. Speaking at the Saturday News Forum, Quimbo said that the mandate of the DOE for gas companies to adjust their prices every Tuesday does not promote competition among firms, which should be the key to deregulation.
