Pakistan, Iran stress stability as key to economic cooperation

Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Dr Abdolnaser Hemmati met Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday on the sidelines of the ongoing Islamabad peace talks , with both sides underscoring the need for continued dialogue to promote regional stability and economic cooperation. “Both sides emphasised the importance of sustained dialogue and noted that peace and stability in the region remain essential for economic cooperation and shared progress,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on X. The development came as direct talks between the United States and Iran began on Saturday, with hopes of a peace deal to end weeks-long Iran war. On Thursday, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met H.E. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, Finance Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in Islamabad and discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, and economic development. The Saudi minister, who was on a one-day visit to the capital, called on the premier at the Prime Minister’s House. During the meeting, the prime minister emphasised Pakistan’s strong commitment to expanding its cooperation with the Kingdom in all spheres, particularly in trade, investment, and economic development, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
