Sports fandom can make you do crazy things. As the Toronto Blue Jays slumped out of the gates, some fans were looking for a scapegoat. According to some, the scapegoat wasn't a player, a coaching decision, or the umpires. It was a song. An online movement picked up this week when one Jays fan started a petition, suggesting that Daulton Varsho change his walk-up song , which is "Ordinary" by Alex Warren. The popular pop ballad has drawn the ire of some Jays' fans for being a buzzkill. There are others online who have pegged it as one of the worst songs ever. Well, haters be damned, Varsho responded to the criticism of his song choice. "I'm not changing it," he told Sportsnet's Hazel Mae on Saturday. He proceeded to give a heartfelt explanation for why he isn't switching up his stadium song choice. "My daughter loves the song, so I'm putting it out there, I'm not changing it." The actual petition is still live , and there have been 681 fans who have signed it so far. One of the rationales behind the petition wasn't just a disdain for the song; it was the fact that Varsho had gotten off to a sluggish start to the season. Although his batting average is 2026 is still just .209, he's started to pick things up over the last couple of games. He's registered RBIs in back-to-back contests, and hammered his first home run of the season over the fence on Friday. Looks like his walk-up song wasn't the issue after all. Overall, there seems to be a good mix of walk-up songs from Jays players on the roster. That includes adrenaline-fueled rock songs like "B.Y.O.B." by System of a Down (Addison Barger), classic rock anthems like "Money" by Pink Floyd (Kevin Gausman), hip-hop bangers like "Alive" by Kid Cudi (Louis Varland), and Latin dance anthems such as "MONACO" by Bad Bunny (Vladimir Guerrero Jr.).
