'Whether we make a deal or not makes no difference to me' - Trump on Iran talks with US 'sweeping the strait'

"US President Donald Trump touched on the diplomatic efforts with Iran underway in Islamabad on Saturday. "We're in very deep negotiations with Iran. We win, regardless," he explained. "Whether we make a deal or not makes no difference to me!" he added. "We have minesweepers out there. We're sweeping the strait," he continued, following reports from CENTCOM that two US destroyers had transited the strait, a claim denied by Iran. “We’ve totally defeated that country,” he went on. “We’ve defeated their navy… we’ve defeated their air force… we’ve defeated their radar.” "Their leaders are all dead. And now all we do is we'll open up the strait, even though we don't use it, because we have a lot of other countries in the world that do use it, that are either afraid or weak or cheap. I don't know what it is, but we were not helped by NATO, that I can tell you." At the same time, diplomatic efforts are continuing behind the scenes. US and Iranian delegations are currently meeting in Islamabad, following a two-week ceasefire agreement reached earlier this week. The US delegation is led by Vice President J.D. Vance and includes special envoy Steve Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner. The Iranian side includes Parliament Speaker Mohammad Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi."
