Top-seeded Mirra Andreeva served five aces while outlasting Romania’s Sorana Cirstea 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2 to reach the semifinals of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz on Friday at Linz, Austria. Andreeva, 18, converted 5 of 7 break points against the fifth-seeded Cirstea, 36, who is in her last year on tour. After losing the second set, Russia’s Andreeva won the first three games of the final set en route to the quarterfinal victory. Andreeva will next face Romania’s Elena-Gabriela Ruse in Saturday’s semifinals. Ruse drilled nine aces in a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 upset of No. 4 seed Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia. Ostapenko committed 11 double faults. Alcaraz ends Vacherot fairytale to set up Monte Carlo tennis final with Sinner Austria’s Anastasia Potapova and Croatia’s Donna Vekic will meet in the other semifinal. Potapova was a 7-6 (7), 6-0 winner over countrymate Lilli Tagger and Vekic ousted Czech Karolina Pliskova 7-5, 6-4.
