"The US Vice President, JD Vance, waved his final goodbye to Pakistan as the delegation departed Rawalpindi on Sunday morning after the Washington-Tehran peace talks that had been going on for 21 hours ended in a stalemate. Footage shows Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir seeing JD Vance off as he climbed a plane at Nur Khan airbase. Following the negotiations, Vance stated Washington and Tehran failed to reach an agreement, calling the outcome "bad news for Iran, much more than it's bad news for the United States". Before the negotiations were underway, US President Donald Trump declared that the US had 'won' the war regardless of diplomatic efforts, adding, "Whether we make a deal or not makes no difference to me." Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said, "Views remained divided on two or three key issues, and the talks ultimately failed to form a deal," noting that "it was unrealistic from the outset to expect an agreement to be reached in a single session." The Pakistan-mediated talks came after a two-week conditional ceasefire was reached on Wednesday, April 8."
