Cold but bold! - World record holder Wandratsch trains Russian athletes in icy Moscow waters

"German ice swimming world record holder Christof Wandratsch led a training camp for Russian athletes in Moscow last week, bringing together swimmers for intensive sessions in cold-water endurance. Footage shows participants training and competing at the Krylatskoye Rowing Canal, with swimmers entering cold water conditions as part of endurance exercises. "We have perfect conditions for training here, a great pool, there are warm-up facilities, everything is excellent and the people here are really nice. I admire how brave they are - they go into the water with no fuss. So it’s very good and it’s great fun working with them," Wandratsch said. He added that his visit was also an opportunity to learn from others and exchange experiences with athletes. "I have to say that I have friends who are athletes from all over the world, regardless of their nationality," he said. The camp, held from April 7 to 11, gave Russian swimmers the chance to train with the multiple European and world champion, known for completing extreme-distance swims in freezing conditions. In February, Russian athletes competing under a neutral flag won 53 medals and set five world records at the European Ice Swimming Championships in Molveno, Italy."
